“Once the travel bug bites there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life”― Michael Palin
Hey! So I wanted to write this because I have been feeling a bit restless as of late due to my limitations to travel. Currently, I am taking my local bus to get to places. Don’t get me wrong, I am very grateful to have a mode of transportation at all. Still, I miss just getting up and going wherever I want, whenever I want. I am a drifter, staying in place for too long doesn’t bode well for me. On the flip side, once I save up enough money, I will have another vehicle again soon- I do not miss car payments!
So what is a needy, restless traveler to do? Go discover a local place that she’s never been to before. I first remember seeing this CBD American Shaman Kava Bar’s grand opening sign back in March, but refused to go because the weather refused to make up it’s mind: one day it was hot, the next day freezing, and the day after that everything was slick with ice. No way was I going anywhere that I didn’t need to go.
After speaking with my cousin the other day we somehow got on the topic of Kava tea. Suddenly, a light bulb went off in my mind’s eye: there’s a Kava bar right here in downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas! So, I got up yesterday morning, took care of my furbabies and headed to Fayetteville and I be dog if I didn’t enjoy myself! I learned something new: there are about 70 different types of Kava. Who knew?
I write all of this, not just because I wanted to go some place new, but because it was a reminder that I didn’t have to go somewhere grand in order for it to be an adventure. I didn’t have to go to another state or back oversees to see anything as a time spent well. I can find my adventure anywhere. See, about a year ago I got into my first car accident ever and totaled my car. Since then I have been relying on bus transportation until I save up enough money for a nice vehicle. I thought I felt stuck before when I couldn’t travel how I wanted, but that in no way compares to how I have felt this past year. Let’s just say that 2019 has been a character-building year, big time! I have grown in many ways in such a short amount of time and am very grateful because of it.
I tried frequenting a few restaurants and bars, but then they started becoming a necessity for me to be happy. So, I greatly pulled back from doing so because I felt it was no longer healthy for me. That and losing weight was not possible frequenting those places. Hey, a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do. Well, come to find out I was just beyond stressed, taxed, and overwhelmed with my anxiety through the 5th floor roof (figure of speech). Now, I am very pleased to say that I have found a healthier bar to go to.
The CBD American Shaman Kava Bar. That’s a mouthful, isn’t it? Well, you are definitely sure to get a mouthful here with the amount of beverages they serve, among other things. Here’s some fun facts about Kava. Kava has been an integral part of the lives of Pacific Islanders for centuries. It has been used as a ceremonial drink by the locals, and helps to relieve stress and anxiety. This is because kava has sedative and anesthetic properties. No, it is not a drug nor alcoholic beverage. This is just something naturally occurring. The effects may vary from person to person, but one can become a bit tired.
If you look at the pictures in my gallery you will see they name tag of the kava teas I tried. The parenthesis notates which is best for a specific time of day. I had the 8oz shots, but you can get the 4oz shots. I loved the Kavee so much that I got a large cup of it! Kavee is coffee with Kava added to it. I highly recommend this ( I had energy until past my usual bedtime). The tongue numbing effect was non-existent for me.
What is the tongue numbing effect, you ask? Well, sometimes Kava can make your mouth feel numb to the point where you think you are having an allergic reaction. I promise this is 100% natural. For me, the Kava that made my mouth the most numb was the Borogu Vanuatu Kava. The flavor in that one was very strong, as well as the effects! If you want to try this (the BVK) I highly recommend you only get the 4oz shot because it might be a tad bit too strong for you. Then again, the staff can add coconut milk, half & half or a sweetener in there if you need it.
Oh, let me guess: You are waiting on me to comment on that CBD gummy? Well, I got it for free by following CBD American Shaman Kava Bar on Instagram and you can do the same (I think the other option was a CBD Honey Stick). Yes, I tried it and, yes, it was delicous. No, I did not feel any effects from it, BUT this could’ve been that I was already at this bar for over an hour with a few drinks in me already and a sense of calm about me. Who knows? If you are wondering the CBD is hemp-derived. 100% legal.
If you visit this place and get this flight I recommend getting the 4oz shots of this and drinking #4 last! Once you drink #4 you’ll likely not want to finish the rest.
I don’t know much about the yoga place here, but I believe they do yoga classes on Saturdays in the back. You would have to ask them yourself. I was too busy in my own world of bliss.
I might do another, more in-depth post about Kava to better help you, the reader, out as well as just gain more knowledge about this subject for myself. Until next time! Don’t forget that you don’t have to do something huge or go somewhere grand to find your next adventure. Heck, you don’t even need to be wealthy or have a vehicle. All you need is yourself, determination, will power and to just allow yourself to be. Where there is a will, there is a way. I’ve never heard a more truer statement than that. You’ve got this! I’ve got your back. Feel free to message me on here or my social media accounts. Cheers! Now, get up and go explore!Let me know what you find.
Thank you for reading!
